Lavazza was founded in Turin Italy in the year 1895 by an Italian named Luigi Lavazza. The company name was derived from Luigi Lavazza and lately the business has been administered by the third & fourth generation of the Lavazza family.
After Luigi’s trip to Brazil, he began to study the art of coffee making by blending different beans from around the world. He expanded his business by moving to larger premises Via San Tommaso 10 where the shelves were stacked with every day produce of fruits and vegetables.
Business for Luigi began to flourish and so price lists were created & sent via post for his coffee products. In 1927 the Lavazza shop grew from a small outlet to a growing business. Luigi and his family patented the name &started a sales network for the company.

In 1947 the Lavazza family decided to brand its product and so the Lavazza iconic logo was designed by AerostudioBorghi in Milan. In 1950 the Lavazzas started using pressurized tins to preserve the coffee which allowed distribution times to be extended.
After seven years Italy’s economy was flourishing and Lavazza was the largest company in the coffee sector. They had bigger plans that would make them the leading brand in all of Europe. They proved themselves as Lavazza started producing 40000kg of coffee a day using a fall-flow processing cycle.
